Sevens & Classics at Silverstone National – Round 3
June 17, 2017 2:40 pmOur first Class A win with the Caterham!
We started 5th on the grid thanks to very a lucky tow in qualifying, gaining just 0.5 of a second, dragged us all the way up from 11th. It was the closest qualifying I have ever seen in this series!
A slightly over enthusiastic start meant we dropped a couple of places in the opening laps but resulted in another great chase between us and the Blue Seat Leon of Widgat Racing!
After the pit-stop we emerged in the lead of the class chasing the outrageously fast Fiesta of Big Skids Racing from Class S all the way to the flag!
The end result saw us finish 3rd on the road, a podium which we only inherited due to a couple of S Class retirements ahead of us, but did manage to win our Class on merit. Some great racing, defending, overtaking, (and avoiding) made it a thrilling race which wont be forgotten any time soon!
This leaves us 3rd in the Class A standings for the championship and 6th overall.
A huge thanks once again to our sponsors: Full Circle Enterprises & Sevens & Classics for their ongoing support. And an even bigger thanks to our team: Tatiana McDougall Hazel Simonds Jim McDougall and Mike Marais Round 4 takes place on the banking of Rockingham Speedway on the 25th of June. Updates will come from there!
